About Kiera Murphy, LMHC

I’m here to help you feel calm, clear, & confident in your life again.

I provide therapy for anxiety, OCD tendencies, perfectionism, and people-pleasing for adults in New York City, Hoboken, and across New York and New Jersey via telehealth.

You're here because something in your life no longer feels sustainable.

You're here because something in your life no longer feels sustainable.

I often work with thoughtful, high-achieving, and self-aware individuals who are used to being the responsible one, the reliable one, and the one others depend on — but internally feel anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck in patterns they can’t seem to break.

Many of the people I work with feel like their mind is constantly on — replaying conversations, anticipating what could go wrong, or questioning whether they made the right decision.

Perfectionism and pressure to succeed can make it feel like you can never fully relax, as though everything has to be done perfectly and even your accomplishments rarely feel like enough.

You may find yourself stuck in cycles of self-doubt, overthinking your choices, or saying “yes” to things you don’t truly want to do because it feels easier than disappointing someone.

Over time, these patterns can leave you feeling mentally exhausted, disconnected from yourself, or unsure of how to move forward.

You know something needs to change, and you’re ready to understand yourself more deeply so you can move forward with greater confidence, clarity, and self-trust.

Who I work with….

High achievers
You’re responsible, driven, and capable, but you put a lot of pressure on yourself and rarely feel like you can relax.

Insightful but stuck
You understand your patterns and where they come from, but you still find yourself repeating them.

Overthinkers
Your mind is constantly analyzing, replaying conversations, and questioning whether you made the right decision.

Perfectionists
You hold yourself to very high standards, and it’s hard to feel satisfied with what you’ve done.

People pleasers
You prioritize other people’s needs and feelings, and setting boundaries or saying no feels very uncomfortable.

High-functioning anxiety
You are still functioning and getting things done, but internally you feel anxious, tense, or mentally exhausted.

Burnout professionals
You’re used to being productive and dependable, but you’re starting to feel exhausted, unmotivated, or overwhelmed.

OCD tendencies
You get stuck in loops of intrusive thoughts, reassurance seeking, checking, or needing certainty before you can relax.

Young professionals
You’re navigating career, relationships, and independence while trying to figure out who you are and what you want.

How I work:

My Approach: Moving Beyond Insight to Real Change

Many of the people I work with are already highly insightful. They’ve spent years reflecting on their patterns and trying to understand why they feel the way they do. Insight is valuable — but insight alone doesn’t always create relief.

In our work together, we focus on understanding the deeper beliefs and emotional patterns driving your experiences, and more importantly, learning how to respond to them differently in real time.

Therapy with me is not just about talking about your week. We actively work on identifying patterns, challenging unhelpful beliefs, practicing new ways of responding to anxiety and self-doubt, and building the ability to tolerate discomfort and uncertainty.

My work draws from evidence-based approaches including CBT, REBT, ACT, and EMDR. These approaches allow us to explore both the thoughts and emotional experiences that shape your reactions, relationships, and sense of self.

Rather than simply understanding your patterns, our goal is real change — building self-trust, resilience, confidence, and the ability to move through life with more clarity and flexibility.

Therapy with me is not

A space where you will be judged or criticized

The right fit if you want someone to simply agree rather than challenge you to grow

Passive conversations that go in circles

Only venting without deeper understanding

Therapy with me is

Collaborative and active — we work together to understand patterns and create change.

Insightful and practical — you’ll gain clarity and tools you can apply in everyday life.

Supportive but honest — warm, compassionate, and gently challenging when needed.

A place to slow down and make sense of things when your mind feels stuck in overthinking.
